Why MariaDB sales sucks (and this is maybe the cause why they are not profitable)
Abgelegt unter Code, EDV, IT, MariaDB, Vermutungen am 03.07.2025For a simple customer project, i need a specific function of MariaDB, which is only available in the Enterprise edition.
Since MariaDB is already struggling with getting paying customers, i was somehow happy to use their contact form to ask for an Enterprise subscription.
I used one of my dedicated mail addresses (especially for cases like this), told them that i am CEO, my company name and the fact that it will be one server, one cpu.
Okay, then i receive the same response to my dedicated AND general business email.
WHAT THE FUCK. DID I ASK FOR THAT?
Also the sales representive is asking me questions like: what is my business case, do i have performance issues, etc…
WHO CARES?
I want a price tag.
Nah, sorry MariaDB. Either you get your sales fixed, or your commercial branch will die.
As heartbroken i am in this case, but this customer will now go with MS SQL, also running on Linux, but having a proper price tag which they do not need to hide.
Farewell…
